Parents: The document below is a glimpse of WIRED Weekend. The NexGen Team feels that a parent-student-ministry partnership is of the upmost importance for the spritiual growth of your student. We encourage follow-through with your student and full family involvement. ‘WIRED’ Middle School RetreatMarch 25-27, 2008 Overall theme; We are ‘wired’ (created) by God for God. Friday Evening; ‘Wired for another World’ We as humans are created in the Image of God. We bear the image of Holiness, of God. There is something deeply spiritual within us that has been placed there on purpose by the Creator God. Saturday Morning; ‘Wired to Worship’ 1.) Worship = giving something worth 2.) what do we give worth? How do we shift our worth to God 3.) We reflect things (others, material possessions, ourselves) 4.) how can we reflect God? 5.) by human nature we ‘reflect’, ‘make-much-of’, ‘worship’ without realizing it – if we worship by default, we need to begin to worship the only one worth our worship Saturday Afternoon; ‘Wired for Wealth’ 1.) what is wealth? Defined as an abundance of valuable things, resources 2.) where do these things come from (James 1:16-17) 3.) what have we been gifted? (Love, Grace, Forgiveness, Life, reason, experiences, creation, relationships, Jesus Christ) 3.) God sees wealth differently! He sees the before mentioned things as the most valuable and most expensive (Jesus) – this is the wealth we were wired for, not the wealth of this world. Saturday Night; ‘Wired for this World’ 1.) why are we here? The meaning of life as some call it – there is a purpose! 2.) Have relationship with God here in this world 3.) Partner with God here in this world to build his kingdom 3.) explanation of God’s Kingdom (here and now) not later, not separate 4.) God has s.h.a.p.e.’d us for this relationship and partnership – Spiritual gifts, Heart (passions), Abilities, Personality, Experiences 5.) it is no mistake, by these attributes you have been wired to join God’s work in this world – not all in the same way, but differently as God has wired us all differently.Experiential elements – (drawings of experiences that help us see that God wants to use us) – (play-doh to create how God has shaped us for this world) – (Paper chain to see the relationship ‘link’ God wants to have with us) Sunday Morning; ‘Wired to Win’ 1.) All of the things we are wired for are only possible through Jesus. Jesus is our Power source. Wiring doesn’t work unless you have power. Our power comes from Christ’s Victory, which He invites us into with Him. 2.) Problems don’t go away after big retreats. They will persist when you go home, but we can’t have faith only in the good times. We have to look to the “Big Win” that Jesus has and be a part of that. Don’t just let your faith life be about the “mountain top” experiences, but be faithful through all that comes your way.
